CoCo Pete’s Coconut Coir

The very best organic potting medium. Replace peat moss with eco-friendly, 100% renewable coconut coir. CoCo Pete’s CoCo Coir is a revolutionary, organic growing medium prepared from the husk by product of the coconut. The pith and coir (outer husk) fibers of the coconut are shredded and compressed into 22 oz. Bricks and 55 lb. Bales. CoCo Pete’s CoCo Coir is easily expandable and lightweight. CoCo Coir increases aeration and drainage of the soil, yet have a unique water holding capacity that helps to retain nutrients from leaching. CoCo Pete’s is great for starting seed as well as growing & nurturing mature plants.

CoCo Pete’s coir dust is a natural, biodegradable by-product from the coconut fiber industry. It is the leftover dust after extraction of fiber from freshwater cured coconut husks. After extraction of fiber, coir dust is stored in open air for 2-3 years before using. Exposure to natural conditions, rain in particular, weathers coir dust and reduces its salinity and conductivity. Aged coconut dust has properties suitable for promoting plant growth. A 50% increase in root growth has been observed in many plants when they are grown in coir dust mediums. A higher rose production can be achieved using coir dust. Coconut coir is available in different dry compaction units (9:1 and 2:1) and forms. The forms are bricks and bales.
